Germs, Germs, Germs

It seems like if there are germs floating around that Jeremiah will catch them. We have been sick numerous times in the last couple of months. Thankfully, we have not had to revisit the hospital like we did in October. Currently, he has a sinus infection that we are treating with antibiotics and hopefully we will be well for a while after this episode. His daddy and I are praying for a sick-free December, so no one has to take off from work.

Well, the week of Thanksgiving has finally gotten here and I am enjoying my week off from school. I have really enjoyed spending this time with my son. He has gotten to be quite a character and is so much fun to be with. He is in that stage now where he will imitate things that you do and say. His vocabulary includes: dada, momma, bye, and hi. His tricks include: clapping, clacking his tongue, waving bye, blowing rasberries with his lips, giving sweet eyes and many other things. We're still working on sitting up and walking, but he is getting into enough trouble just crawling.

I am looking forward to seeing all of my family this week and feeding Jeremiah his first turkey and dressing. I will have to post some new pictures soon.

First Birthday Pictures & Ear Tubes

We finally were able to get a new computer, so I am able to load some pictures from his birthday party. We had been using Robert's computer from college and it finally got to old to function properly. Jeremiah enjoyed his party and was glad to see everyone that attended.

He will have an outpatient procedure on Thursday, Oct. 1. Jeremiah has had six ear infections since he was born, so he is having tubes put in his ears. The fluid is not draining off his ears, so the tubes will aid in getting the fluid off and preventing infections. I think the worst part is he will not be able to eat past midnight. How do you explain to a one-year old that he can't have his milk and cereal when he wakes up Thursday morning? He is going to be one mad fellow.

Hand, Foot, and Mouth

Well, I had to take Jeremiah to the doctor on Tuesday because he had a fever that wouldn't go away. I thought the antibiotic he was taking for his ears just wasn't working, but after the doctor checked him over he was clueless of what was causing the fever. He decided check his throat for strep and took one look, put the pacifier back in, looked at me and said, "It's hand, foot, and mouth". At first, I thought he had just made something up to be funny because I had never heard of it. Jeremiah never formed blisters on his hands or feet, but he had them all down his throat. He stayed home with us all week and is feeling much better now.

We got to enjoy a Saturday at home today which is a rare occasion. It will be six weeks before we have another one at the house. We are either out of town for a football game or church meeting for the next five weekends. I'm hoping for good weather on the football game weekends, so we will be able to tailgate with our families.

Jeremiah is so mobile and into everything. I knew this day would come, but my house was not ready for it. He loves being on the floor so much that he tried to get out of the stroller multiple times today while we were in the grocery store, so he could crawl on the floor. We are trying to transition him from a bottle to a sippy cup, but he is not liking it at all. I don't know if he is just being stubborn or just not ready for the cup. He already has two teeth in on the bottom and is getting three in on the top at the same time.

Where did August go? September Already!

It's hard to believe that September is already upon us. This month is full of family birthdays. For labor day, we will travel to Brookhaven to spend time with my family and celebrate Amy's, Ricky's, mom's and papa's birthday in one weekend. Robert's grandmother had a birthday this week. Jeremiah is going to have his first sleep over this weekend. My parents are keeping him Sunday night, so we can go to a wedding that night in Jackson. We are going back down on Monday to pick him up.

Jeremiah is still crawling and trying to sit up. He is so determined, but just not quite strong enough to sit completely up. We are taking him to an ENT on Sept. 18 for a consultation on getting tubes put in his ears. He's had fluid in his ears for the past couple of weeks that just won't drain off. We hope once the tubes are in place these ear infections will stop.

We loved Florida!

Jeremiah getting wet from the waves.

We are watching the waves hit the shore. I had no idea Robert was taking this picture, but I love it!

Playing in the sand with his daddy.

Well, we have made it home safely from Florida, but loved our mini vacation. We weren't able to spend much time on the beach because it was stormy on Saturday. We were able to go to Fudpucker's for supper and it was a great experience. I have inserted some pictures that I hope you enjoy. I don't know if you would say that Jeremiah loved the beach....but I can say that he didn't cry. He did enjoy watching the waves come in and hit the shore.
Keep checking back and hopefully next week I will be able to post some pictures from his birthday party. This has been a busy week and it's only Monday. My students come to school on Wednesday and we have Jeremiah's party on Saturday.

August is here!!!

Wow, my summer has flown by and I just can't believe that it is over. I will be starting back to school on August 6, so no more days of hanging out with my buddy, Jeremiah. We will still be one busy family. This weekend we are celebrating Robert's birthday by going out to eat tonight and he got a delivery at work from Jeremiah and I. On Saturday, we are going to Oxford for a church meeting.

On August 7, we will be back in Florida that weekend to fill in at that church and we are making it into a mini vacation for us. We will be staying in a hotel on the beach and hope Jeremiah enjoys his first visit to the beach. I am just looking forward to getting away before the students start school to spend quality time with my two boys.

On August 15, we will be celebrating the birthday of one very special boy, Jeremiah Ray Adam. I can not believe that it has already been a year. I feel so blessed that God entrusted us with one very special boy. I just know deep within my heart the God has GREAT plans for his life. I wish we were able to have a huge celebration that everyone could attend, but with our busy schedule we're just going to have a small family party.

On August 25, we will be back in Oxford again to fill in for that church. I always love going back to Oxford. I tell Robert all the time that I miss the town, but not the school work. I met some great people there and had some great teacher mentors.

Well, as always, we stay on the road, but I would not trade my life for anything. We are able to meet a lot of good Christian families that have become close friends and a part of our life. Yes, there are times that we are tired and wish we could stay home, but God always supplies us with the strength to carry on.

Neurologist Update

Well, we went to the neurologist today and received some great news. His head circumference had only increased one centimeter since the last visit and that is good news. The doctor said everything looked good and that his brain was growing at the appropriate rate. He did not see any signs of fluid build up between the brain and skull, which is also great news. Since everything looked great today, we do not have to go back until July 2010 instead of every three months like we have been doing since December. We want to thank everyone who has been praying for our little boy and us. He is a blessing from God and we are so thankful for him each and every day.

We are off to Florida this weekend. Robert is filling in at a church in Crestview, Fl. that has lost their pastor. We are going down tomorrow and hopefully will be able to take Jeremiah to the beach. This will be another first for Jeremiah this summer and I'll have to post pictures. This will also be my first time to visit Florida, so I am super excited about this trip. Oh, this will be Jeremiah's first vacation too. Wow, he is experiencing a lot of firsts this summer.

Summer Break

Well, it has been a great summer break so far, but it is sad that it is almost over. I have enjoyed the time off from school and spending extra time with my family. Jeremiah is now 10 months old and growing so much. We have celebrated a lot of firsts lately. He got his first haircut, went swimming for the first time and got his first tooth. He has brought so much joy to our lives and we couldn't even imagine life without him. We go back to the Neurologist this month for a check up and pray that we continue to receive good reports. In August, we go for our 1 year check up with his peditrician and to get more shots. It is so hard to believe that he has been with us almost a year.

Where has the time went?

Jeremiah is now seven months old and learning new things everyday. He is close to being able to hold up his head on his own, loves sitting and playing in his jumperoo, and starting to eat baby food. He loves squash and tolerates the carrots. He is quick at rolling over and that is his method of getting into things. He will roll to where he wants to go and can hold himself up on his hands.
My favorite things are his smile and laugh. When it is late at night, we blow on his belly and he giggles the sweetest laugh.
